OK so I am going to recap on where I am up to with my journey to online wealth and freedom.

I spoke on a previous post of the need for a mentor, and how I did a lot of research in finding my first mentor.

That first mentor advised students not to enter the Internet Marketing niche as a newbie, because you have no credibility in that area, no social proof, no previous success in the niche.  So, of course, I took the advice.

But I had no idea which niche to enter! I did loads of research on target markets, and decided to enter the parenting niche.

I thought this is an area that I know about and can speak with authority, and could be lucrative.  BUT the key was that I was not passionate about the subject!

Now don’t get me wrong – I’ve been a parent for 23 years and love my kids – but did not want to talk about being a parent!  I wanted to talk about Internet Marketing, because that is where my current passion was and still is.

In other words I was not passionate about my niche, and I believe that this is CRUCIAL. You must be passionately interested in what you are talking about, otherwise that lack of passion will come through in your writing.

So – write with passion is my advice today folks!

However on the positive side during my time with my first mentor I did learn loads about how to set up my blog, which plugins to use, how to set up analytics, write powerful posts, write my first ebook, set up a squeeze page, set up a shopping cart.  So I learned the basics, which has allowed me to quickly set up this blog.

I hope that this time my passion for the subject will shine through!

OK so we are up to the point where I found my new mentor!

This is only a couple of weeks ago and I have since set up this blog following his advice. I have been advised to set up a blog in my own name, in the Internet Marketing niche, and to tell my story – which is EXACTLY what I have wanted to do from the beginning.

Who is this fabulous person, I hear you ask – ALEX JEFFREYS, of course!

I now have my blog set up, my plugins installed, and a few posts made.  I need to complete my Free product during the next few days, and put my opt in boxes up so that you can all benefit from all the Free stuff that is going to come your way.

My strategy now is:-

To post as frequently as I can.

To generate traffic – much much more on this as we go along.

To start to build my subscriber list.

To establish a trustworthy relationship with my readers, so that you can be sure that I operate with integrity, and honesty.

I will ultimately be specialising in web and marketing audit evaluations, for both online and offline small to medium sized businesses.  Some of my time will be spent in networking at local business events, as well as at larger internet marketing seminars and workshops. with a view to getting my name and my expertise recognised.

I first began to start to get serious about this business in around February 2008. Believe it or not I implemented a strategy that I read about and in 6 weeks I made $650!

This fact, in retrospect was not necessarily a good thing, because I got too confident.  I thought everything I did would be just as easy.  I was very naive back then ( 18 long months ago) .

See what I am doing there, an internet marketer’s common strategy – creating anticipation.

Seriously, every marketer does this before their big product launches – they create that sense of anticipation in their followers, so that their buyers cannot wait for the launch and they buy immediately.

My initial success proved to me that this internet marketing business can work, but there is so much more to learn, as I was to discover!
