Sue’s Simple Multi Blogging Strategy
Today I am going to show you how, with a little effort in initial set up, you can spread your blog and micro blog content across multiple sites with just one post.
Why cross post your blog entries?
Traffic of course! Post once to your main Wordpress blog and your posts are shown on multiple other sites, therefore increasing your site’s visibility.
Thanks to the incredible widespread availability of all kinds of content on the web, you can now increase the reach of your online campaign by automatically and instantly cross-posting your blog or website entries on different Web 2.0 services, such as macro and micro blogging services (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
It is another fantastic way to build communication and connect to your audience, and it can have a far-reaching effect on your campaign, particularly by getting the attention of people who have never visited your website.
The entries on your blog can appear on countless other platforms simultaneously, therefore getting the attention of new audiences, and opening up new channels of communication.
There are multiple benefits to this approach. The first is that you drive more visitors, and thus eventual supporters, to your own blog campaign. Also, it has the effect of lengthening the lifetime of your blog entries by generating a cycle of sharing and promotion that can be easily picked up by the search engines.
First of all you will need to decide which platforms you wish to use. This is my list, which you can adjust to suit your own preferences:-
- Live Spaces
- Multiply
- SPN Babble
- FriendFeed
- MyBlogLog
- Ping.fm
- Xanga
- Live Journal
- Tumblr
- Posterous
- Blogger
- Vox
- Identica
- Plurk
- Jaiku
- YouAre
You will need an account at each of these sites, before you can begin to link your blogs together.
Some care is needed in setting up each link. You will need to avoid duplicate postings, which can easily happen.
Wordpress have a number of plugins enabling cross postings, and you will need to utilise plugins, RSS feeds and Facebook applications, to link correctly.
Rather than turn this into an extremely long post, I have outlined the process step by step for you, and also provide a mindmap, so that you can see exactly how it works.

Hi Sue,
Excellent advice. I’ve started to do something similar to promote specific key words which I’ll blog about shortly.
Don’t forget it’s also possible to combine RSS feeds with services such as FeedAgs, BadRSS and Feedbite to get greater exposure.

Hi Mick
Just discovered you are from Widnes!
We are neighbours – I live in Leigh.
I missed out on a ticket for Lee McIntyre’s workshop – give me a shout if there are any others in Manchester or in north west that are useful and affordable.
We must get together at some point!
Keep in touch

Ps Get that ebook finished!
Hi Sue,
I’ve started working through your list and have a question on Live Spaces.
First, I presume it’s MSN/Microsoft that’s behind it…at least that’s all I get when I google it.
That being the case, I can’t find any reference to a journal…so no place to enter the secret word you mention.
Am I on the wrong site?
Or is it typical Microsoft…make everything as difficult as possible.
Cheers,
Rod

Hi Rod
Yes its MSN. You need a windows live id first of all, which gives you access to MSN and Hotmail.
Then you should see a page which says ‘Get started with Spaces’ and a link to create your space.
Your space name will be – http://www.rodmacbeth.spaces.live.com
It is confusing and you can go around in circles, also its difficult to explain properly.
So first of all get your windows live id.
Good luck
Sue
Rod, my guide may have misled you slightly – I mentioned Live journal in the section about live spaces – it should read live spaces. Live journal is a separate blog, (which may still be connected to windows live in some way). But don’t forget Live spaces and Live journal are 2 separate entities.

Hi Sue,
Thanks so much for the eBook. This is seriously Good! I downloaded my copy from Sure Fire Wealth and went back and gave it a 5 star rating so hopefully you should get more response from that.
I am now sitting at my computer with my printed version in hand and the mind map printed and stuck on the wall.
I tend not to update my personal blog much but will now take the time to update it more often.
Thanks for taking the time to break it down into so few pages.
Warm Regards,

Oh Sue, Sorry, my whole point to leaving a comment was to also let you know that the mind map link isn’t live in the eBook. You might like to edit it before you get more downloads, well the copy at Sure Fire Wealth didn’t have a live hyperlink on the last page.
Good luck,
Denise

Hi Sue,
I am working on the live sync part and the notes above helped. I am stuck with the secret word. I don’t recall putting in a secret word when I set up my space and don’t know where to go to find it so am unable to set up my Live Sync plugin.
The secret word wouldn’t be the name used to answer the secret question to change the password would it? That wouldn’t make sense.
I never entered a secret word when I set it up and have checked every menu item possible looking for where i might enter it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Denise

Hi Denise
Thank you so much for the 5 star rating!
Yes you are right the link isn’t live for some reason, but as long as you got it OK. I’ll change it later.
Right Live Spaces – you need to go to your blog page and click on options, and then email publishing, then on that page you will see the secret word.
Hope you find it – do let me know.
It is quite time consuming getting everything right and tested but once it is done you can forget it!
Also if you sign up via my blog you will get my next 2 ‘Simple Strategies’ as soon as they are ready.
